READ > LEAD > ACHIEVE
Read > Lead > Achieve® is Pi Beta Phi’s philanthropic effort, which inspires a lifelong love of reading that can unlock true potential, creating a more literate and productive society. We believe in the power of reading. We believe reading always has been — and always will be — a powerful step toward a life of enduring impact. We believe that when one out of four children grows up unable to read, that’s one child too many. For more than a century, we’ve committed ourselves to creating a more literate and productive society.
One child … one moment at a time … one life changed forever.
CHAMPIONS ARE READERS
Champions are Readers® (CAR) is Pi Beta Phi’s unique reading enrichment program for students in pre-kindergarten through third grade. Since its launch in 2003, thousands of students across the United States and Canada have participated in the program. Designed to create an interactive reading and mentoring relationship between Pi Phis and children from their local communities, CAR engages children in a positive reading experience and allows participants to accommodate students’ varying academic needs.
Where do our philanthropy earnings go? Towrads the Literacy Fund and Friendship Fund! The Literacy Fund directly supports our philanthropic efforts, Read > Lead > Achieve and Champions are Readers, to fulfill Pi Beta Phi's Mission of inspiring a lifelong love for reading and a more literate and productive society. One in four children in the United States grow up without learning how to read, and allocating our funds raised towards the Literacy Fund allows us to change that narrative.
LITERACY FUND AND FRIENDSHIP FUND
Where do our philanthropy earnings go? Towrads the Literacy Fund and Friendship Fund! The Literacy Fund directly supports our philanthropic efforts, Read > Lead > Achieve and Champions are Readers, to fulfill Pi Beta Phi's Mission of inspiring a lifelong love for reading and a more literate and productive society. One in four children in the United States grow up without learning how to read, and allocating our funds raised towards the Literacy Fund allows us to change that narrative.
The other half of our philanthropy earnings go towards the Friendship Fund. The Friendship Fund is in place to ensure that Pi Phi can meet additional needs not covered by designated funds alone. The Friendship Fund helps Pi Phi prepare members to lead, award scholarhips, fund our literacy work, care for our sisters, manage investments, share our gratitude, and so much more.
